Making a Plan

Getting Funded

Our goal is to ensure that everyone has access to the support they need, regardless of their funding situation.

Funding Options

With so many funding models and government programmes, the New Zealand disability support sector can be difficult to navigate. If you don’t already have funding, get in touch and we can walk you through options and refer you to the right people.

The important thing to remember at this stage is that we at Community Living do not provide funding. That is provided either directly from yourself, or, by getting in touch with a NASC (Needs Assessment Service Coordinator).

How NASC Helps with Funding

A NASC will typically decide on an appropriate funding package or service type. Some of the acronyms and names you may come across are “EGL” or Enabling Good Lives, which is an overarching way of providing support you can find out more about here, SIL or Supported Independent Living, Choices in Community Living, Residential Services, Transition From School, ACC Living My Life, Individualised Funding (IF) and more. Whatever the case, we work with MSD and Whaikaha to provide appropriate supports.

While the acronyms can be complex, the main thing to remember is that most of these are primarily models of funding, not services in themselves. At Community Living we provide Housing, Supports, Activities, Planning and more – any combination of which might be included in your funding package!

So get in touch today to discuss your options.

Enabling Good Lives

We work closely with individuals and families to create a tailored support plan that meets their unique needs and goals.

  • Self determination

Disabled people are in control of their lives.

  • Beginning early

Families and whānau receive early support to be aspirational for their disabled child, build community connections, and foster independence.

  • Person-centred

Supports are tailored to individual needs and goals, taking a whole-life approach rather than being divided across programmes.

  • Ordinary life outcomes

Disabled people are supported to live, learn, work, and participate in everyday life as valued citizens.

  • Mainstream first

Disabled people access mainstream services before specialist disability services when possible.

  • Mana enhancing

The strengths and contributions of disabled people and their families are recognised and respected.

  • Easy to use

Supports are designed to be simple, flexible, and accessible for disabled people and their whānau.

  • Relationship building

Supports strengthen relationships between disabled people, their whānau, and their community.
